Dear Mr President.

I herewith apologize for not properly informing you personally that the
Qt Creator Welcome plugin is currently not based on QML, and has not been
since release 4.3.0.

    LOL
He's supposed to apologize for not providing the historical
    solutions to this constantly occurring problem and for dumping on
    the classic troubleshooting steps involved in diagnosing this
    problem. Since he didn't bother to include them before emptying his
    colon, here's the link again.
http://www.logikalsolutions.com/wordpress/information-technology/qtcreator-no-qmlscene-installed/

You will note that it also included instruction on the use of
    -pluginpath as well as how to find their qt.conf and
    what to look for in it. The post even included information about
    using QT_PLUGIN_PATH.

In short, it was and still is a very useful post because this
    problem __continually__ happens on Ubuntu.

Dropping QML entirely will be a Godsend for software development
    around the world. Dropping it from the Welcome screen was a good
    first start.
