Meeting minutes from Qt Release Team meeting 5th May 2015

Qt5.5 beta status
- New snapshot available & packages under testing now
- Few open beta blockers still, see https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-44653
  * Those should be packaging side issues -> No need to update qt5.git before beta if nothing serious found during testing
--> JPEG orientation change (https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/c/111398/ ) won't be in beta. It will be listed as known issue & merged in 5.5 after beta release
- Target is to put beta out as soon as possible after all blockers fixed & all needed packages created

Qt 5.4.2 status
- "RC" packages under testing now
- All known blockers should be fixed, only one LGPL windows installer is missing at the moment. Re-building ongoing...
- Target is to release Qt 5.4.2 later this month (after Qt 5.5 beta)

Qt 4.8.7 Status
- Qt 4.8.7 release candidate has been available since Thursday Apr 30 2015
- No blockers reported yet on mailing lists.

[17:02:27] <jaheikki3> Time to start Qt release team meeting
[17:02:34] <jaheikki3> On agenda today:
[17:02:40] <jaheikki3> Qt5.5 beta status
[17:02:44] <jaheikki3> Qt 5.4.2 status
[17:02:49] <jaheikki3> Qt 4.8.7 Status
[17:03:01] <jaheikki3> Any additional item to the agenda?
[17:03:02] <thiago> jaheikki3: pong
[17:04:20] <jaheikki3> Lets start from QT 5.5 beta status:
[17:04:39] <jaheikki3> New snapshot available & packages under testing now
[17:04:49] <jaheikki3> Few open beta blockers still, see https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-44653
[17:05:00] <jaheikki3> Those should be packaging side issues -> No need to update qt5.git before beta if nothing serious found during testing
[17:05:02] <carewolf> pong
[17:05:45] <jaheikki3> target is to put beta out as soon as possible after all blockers fixed & all needed packages created
[17:06:30] <jaheikki3> Any comments/questions?
[17:08:18] <carewolf> I would like to get the merge from 5.4.2 done first and reintroduce the JPEG orientation we reverted there
[17:09:20] <jaheikki3> carewolf: That would cause qt5.git update & so on delay the beta even more. Is that merge really that important?
[17:10:16] <carewolf> it just means there would be different behavior in the beta than in final once the merge is done
[17:10:37] <carewolf> I would prefer if the beta acted as close to release as possible
[17:12:00] <jaheikki3> carewolf: Well, beta can have bugs, it is introduction of new functionalities & APIs
[17:12:31] <jaheikki3> carewolf: But I understand your point. Just don't want to delay beta anymore ;)
[17:13:32] <jaheikki3> I think adding that issue in known issues page is enough & take it in after beta. It isn't that big issue in my opinion...
[17:14:02] <carewolf> okay, just as long as people are aware of it
[17:14:29] <jaheikki3> carewolf: Great, thanks!
[17:14:53] <jaheikki3> Then Qt5.4.2 status:
[17:15:05] <jaheikki3> "RC" packages under testing now
[17:15:36] <fkleint> really..haven;t seen them?
[17:15:39] <jaheikki3> All known blockers should be fixed, only one LGPL windows installer is missing at the moment. Re-building ongoing...
[17:16:11] <jaheikki3> fkleint: LGPL ones, enterprise packages are coming
[17:16:15] <fkleint> ah
[17:16:35] <jaheikki3> fregl:
[17:16:41] <jaheikki3> sorry ;)
[17:17:23] <jaheikki3> fkleint: Most of enterprise packages are already there, I haven't sent the info because mac builds are still ongoing
[17:17:56] <jaheikki3> Target is to release Qt 5.4.2 later this month (after Qt 5.5 beta)
[17:18:12] <jaheikki3> Any comments / questions?
[17:21:14] <jaheikki3> Ok, then Qt 4.8.7 status, akseli:
[17:21:27] <akseli> Qt 4.8.7 release candidate has been available since Thursday Apr 30 2015

[17:21:53] <akseli> Comments / questions?
[17:22:53] <thiago> not from me
[17:23:12] <jaheikki3> +1
