Please read carefully what you said: it's dropped from *qtbase* [1].

It's still available in qtimageformats. So no funcionality was lost.

You could paint your own distraction spinner if you wanted, or use MNG or 
animated GIF. I don't know what our support for APNG is at the moment.

[1] please do not capitalise qtbase: it's the name of the Git repository, not 
the name of a module or product.
