What means that the performance of my oscilloscope example will be 
several times slower for Qt 5.x than for Qt 4.8 on X11 ! 

So in the end I have to advice all Qwt users against upgrading to Qt 5 on 
X11 - at least, when performance counts. 

I wish I could have a different conclusion,
