FYI - having observed and read the conversation on the Interests list, these are not people using git that are complaining.
They are people that are pulling the source archives for releases from the website; no git involved.
For example: http://download.qt-project.org/official_releases/qt/5.0/5.0.2/single/qt-everywhere-opensource-src-5.0.2.zip
