Because "everyone working" is somehow missing people who don't know that.

If a branch is in the main repositories, everyone who cloned qtbase has it. 
That means you have an undeterminate number of people who might be looking at 
it. Do not rebase it.

No, really. Please don't rebase a branch in the main repositories.
