The same type of crash happens on my system too (Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit 
with Nvidia drivers). It is a bit random, but I've been completely 
unable to run some examples because of this bug. I just thought there 
was something wrong with my system or the specific examples.

Is there anything I can do (collect a trace, for instance) that would 
help you debug this?
