IIRC, the gtk2 stuff was considered non-important (there's was a
thread about this).

But after reading today's qt-interest I think you're referring to the
gtk3 style. That style simply doesn't exist, not even in
qtstyleplugins. If we were to implement it it would probably go to
qtbase.
