Hi Mike,
At first please add this issue & solution in Qt 5.12.8 known issues page (https://wiki.qt.io/Qt_5.12.8_Known_Issues)
And yes, this issue will be fixed in Qt 5.12.9 but I don't think this is critical enough to cause immediate release; users who are affecting can still use previous Qt 5.12.7 release or take a patch in & (re) build Qt 5.12.8 with a patch.
