KDE is happy to have Qt over and let the adequate (To be defined)
people take care of the channels. Take it as you may.

I know, that's why we are offering it as a possibility, not imposing it on you.

No, it does not depend on the decision on this thread. That said, as
far as I know, there can be other networks bridged into matrix. I'm
not an expert on the topic anyway.

And sure, you can detach the move to the server from the technology
being used, although in my perspective whichever IRC server is used
will continue a barrier of adoption for new contributors.
