Since we won’t have a release team meeting next week:

+1 from me to the exception. Small API surface, and - as I understand the changes - no risk for existing features or packaging.

However, please wait until next week to see if there are any objections before staging. And there are a few stylistic issues in the patches that should be addressed first.
