I have not tried VS2008 (we skipped it),
but we regularly produce 64 bit versions (together with 32 bit
versions) of our applications with VS2005 and VS 2010.

VS 2010 used to be broken (64bit compiler bug), but service pack 1
fixed it a while ago.
