Any news? I'd really like to be able to use the linuxfb backend, and I
think a lot of people doing embedded Linux on low-end platforms would
also appreciate having a working linuxfb backend.

As I said, I am willing to test patches, report success/failures, give
gdb backtraces, and more if requested.
