I built 5.1 on Kubuntu 12.04 without any problems.
Just be sure that you have all packages for xcb platform plugin.

You can also consider installing fontconfig development package. See output
from configure step.
If you want more feature to be turned on -  just install appropriate
development packages.

If official support is prerequisite for some business project then I
suppose that there are companies willing to provide such support (Digia,
