[Interest] Linker error: undefined reference to symbol 'g_type_check_instance_cast'

Hello All,
I am trying to compile an application on a ubuntu system.  I am getting  the following linker error:

with SOURCES and HEADERS containing all the required files of course.
pkg-config --cflags --libs gtk+-2.0 outputs:

Can someone help me solve this error?
