I guess configure disabled qtwebkit because of missing dependencies then ... run configure -v to see the output of the tests.

The binary packages for Qt have been built so far with Ubuntu 11.10 (gcc 4.6). We're right now experimenting with Red Hat 6 and the 'developer toolset' that allows you to use newer gcc : https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Developer_Toolset/ . So far it looks promising ...
