[Interest] Qt Creator cannot debug on iPad device, Xcode has no problem with same iPad?

Thanks Robert,

Yes, I was not expecting to select device under “Kits". I expected to select it under “Devices” since that is where it displayed “Ready to use”. Thank you for explaining.

I created a Qt Creator suggestion to add a device list next to the green debug start button.

Add UI next to green debug start button to select debug target device<https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTCREATORBUG-14398>

https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTCREATORBUG-14398

This would be much more intuitive and similar to what Xcode does where it lists devices and simulators

Hi Robert,

Thank you for your patience and detailed steps. I understand now.

All is good!

Great.

I'd say that normally you are expecting
from a so good IDE as QtCreator less steps
to switch between remote devices.

Even XCode is doing better on that.

If somebody has a good suggestion about where and how
it should be done, my guess, iOS and QtCreator teams
would be happy to improve.

Robert

HI Robert,

I do not understand. "Manage Kits" displays targets rather than devices?

-1. Attach you iPad;
0. Click at Projects at the left toolbar;
1. Click at the button "Manage Kits";
2. Click at the iOS kit your are using for your development.
   The kit is selected now and appear its properties that could
   be configured.
3. Go to combo-box Device;
4. Select there your iPad;
5. Click at button "OK".

Best wishes.

Regards,
Robert

My other device, an iPhone 5c can debug on *both* Qt Creator and Xcode with
no issues.

The iPad device only debugs on Xcode. Qt Creator displays iPad device
current state as “Ready to use”.

However the Qt Creator debug buttons do not turn green? I remove iPad, plug
in iPhone 5C, buttons turn green and all is happy.

If it was a provisioning thing, I would assume Xcode would not debug on it.

What could it be?

I am using Qt 5.4.1 targeting iphoneos-clang.

Hi, Ed,

In Qt Creator open your project.
Click at Project -> Manage Kits

In "Manage Kits" select your iPad device instead of your iPhone
to be used for the kit concerned.

You can also get to "Manage Kits" from Preferences

Take care.

Regards,
Robert
