If you are looking for actual functioning programming why don't you 
first start with

It will walk you through early development using different IDEs and, 
most importantly, the one thing I find most Qt developers lacking in, 
the storage and retrieval of large volumes of data. There are many other 
books on the basic philosophy behind Qt, etc. but most examples are just 
simple snippets which aren't useful or rewarding.
