I am happy to let you know that today Digia announced its plans to acquire the Qt technology and assume main responsibility for all Qt activities from Nokia. This includes driving forth the Qt Project together with the community. The acquisition also includes a part of the Qt R&D team as well as other Qt functions. Read the full blog post for more details: http://bit.ly/O6igBm We are happy to put focus back on core desktop and embedded development as well introduce Qt for Android and iOS. Yoo hoo for the best development framework - it lives on! Best! Congratulations to Digia and to everybody. > Yoo hoo for the best development framework - it lives on! Yes, and I hope that the community at large (companies, individuals, KDE...) find the way to accommodate to the new situation and focus on the actual work. Qt still has the big opportunity - and many small ones. -- Quim From quim.gil at nokia.com Mon Aug 27 18:05:00 2012 From: quim.gil at nokia.com (quim.gil at nokia.com) Date: Mon, 27 Aug 2012 16:05:00 +0000 Subject: [Marketing] Leaving Nokia Message-ID: <7C37471D020C0A4DBF3DE62B30172C4F1782934D@008-AM1MPN1-062.mgdnok.nokia.com> Dear colleagues, I will leave Nokia in a couple of weeks. With this, I will also leave my official and unofficial responsibilities in the Qt Project. The main reason is that I'm getting a new job in a new area (for me) that will require plenty of learning and extra time: the Wikimedia community. More details here: Moving up in the freedom stack http://flors.wordpress.com/2012/08/27/moving-up-in-the-freedom-stack/ I hope someone can work full time in the Qt Project community management and marketing as I had the pleasure and honor to do. There is no lack of experienced and skill candidates, that's for sure. I will be still around in this list, just in case there is something I still forgot to transfer. Otherwise you know where to find me. :) Thank you very much for everything. And good luck in the next steps of the Qt Project. Qt is an impressive technology that still deserves its right place in the industry. -- Quim From sivan at omniqueue.com Mon Aug 27 18:53:59 2012 From: sivan at omniqueue.com (Sivan Greenberg) Date: Mon, 27 Aug 2012 19:53:59 +0300 Subject: [Marketing] Leaving Nokia In-Reply-To: <7C37471D020C0A4DBF3DE62B30172C4F1782934D@008-AM1MPN1-062.mgdnok.nokia.com> References: <7C37471D020C0A4DBF3DE62B30172C4F1782934D@008-AM1MPN1-062.mgdnok.nokia.com> Message-ID: All the best Quim, you seem to know where to go everytime I see you change hats ;) Thanks for your work in Qt project!
