From knut.yrvin at digia.com Thu Dec 6 12:12:48 2012 From: knut.yrvin at digia.com (Knut Yrvin) Date: Thu, 6 Dec 2012 12:12:48 +0100 Subject: [Marketing] Request for Qt 5 relevant talks on FOSDEM Message-ID: <19645905.1HzCvzKNPF@qt-laptop> Hello, I was notified Pau Garcia i Quiles that there is only days left to submitt talks to the CrossDesktop DevRoom at FOSDEM, and it's not submitted Qt 5 talks yet. The deadline is Dec 14. Here is the anuncement: --8<--- FOSDEM is one of the largest gatherings of Free Software contributors in the world and happens each February in Brussels (Belgium). One of the tracks will be the CrossDesktop DevRoom, which will host Desktop-related talks. We are now inviting proposals for talks about Free/Libre/Open-source Software on the topics of Desktop development, Desktop applications and interoperativity amongst Desktop Environments. This is a unique opportunity to show novel ideas and developments to a wide technical audience. Topics accepted include, but are not limited to: Enlightenment, Gnome, KDE, Unity, XFCE, Windows, Mac OS X, general desktop matters, applications that enhance desktops and web (when related to desktop). Talks can be very specific, such as developing mobile applications with Qt Quick; or as general as predictions for the fusion of Desktop and web in 5 years time. Topics that are of interest to the users and developers of all desktop environments are especially welcome. The FOSDEM 2012 schedule might give you some inspiration: https://archive.fosdem.org/2012/schedule/track/crossdesktop_devroom.html Please include the following information when submitting a proposal: * Your name * The title of your talk (please be descriptive, as titles will be listed with around 250 from other projects) * Short abstract of one or two paragraphs * Short bio * Requested time: from 15 to 45 minutes. Normal duration is 30 minutes. Longer duration requests must be properly justified. The deadline for submissions is December 14th 2012. FOSDEM will be held on the weekend of 2-3 February 2013. Please submit your proposals to crossdesktop-devroom at lists.fosdem.org (subscribtion page for the mailing list: https://lists.fosdem.org/listinfo/crossdesktop-devroom ) -- The CrossDesktop DevRoom 2013 Organization Team --8<--- Source: http://www.elpauer.org/?p=1264 Best regards Knut Yrvin -- Open Source Community Manager - Digia, Qt Email: knut.yrvin at digia.com - Mobile: + 47 934 79 561 Visit us on: http://qt.digia.com From thiago.macieira at intel.com Sat Dec 8 03:09:48 2012 From: thiago.macieira at intel.com (Thiago Macieira) Date: Fri, 07 Dec 2012 18:09:48 -0800 Subject: [Marketing] [Development] Reminder: FOSDEM CrossDesktop DevRoom 2013 - Call for Talks In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <4473306.GWHcxBiHuc@tjmaciei-mobl2> To all The deadline is next Friday. If you have an idea but can't put it to words, let me know and I can help you write your abstract. Let's organise the Qt Project participation there. I'll submit a talk about the Qt Project as a whole and Frederik has volunteered to do the Qt 5 update one already (we'll probably have to combine our talks). I'd like to see as well (suggestions): - Qt back to origins: cross-platform development for desktops - Qt in the future: Desktop Components - Hybrid HTML 5 / Qt apps; WebKit 2 - Qt (and KDE) integration to modern Linux system layers If you want to present one of the topics above, let me know and I can help you write the abstract. We are keeping our tool's port up-to-date with Qt 5 on a weekly base: http://www.froglogic.com/news-events/index.php?id=squish-supports-qt5.html Granted, as this is a multi-component piece of software it's as much *for* Qt 5 as *with*. We also have a small number of clients who already switched. But as I cannot talk about them without prior permission we'd have to discuss solving this via private e-mail if you are interested. We're keeping GammaRay building with Qt 5 too: http://www.kdab.com/kdab-products/gammaray/ Apart from that, it's possible in principle to build parts of KDE with Qt 5, but that requires some patching too. I built dolphin konqueror, kmail, kaddressbook, kontact etc with it a few months back. http://www.kdab.com/porting-from-qt-4-to-qt-5/ Thanks, -- Stephen Kelly | Software Engineer KDAB (Deutschland) GmbH & Co.KG, a KDAB Group Company www.kdab.com || Germany +49-30-521325470 || Sweden (HQ) +46-563-540090 KDAB - Qt Experts - Platform-Independent Software Solutions -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... C++Now has three tracks with presentations ranging from hands-on, practical tutorials to advanced C++ design and development techniques. Like last year, expect a large number of talks to focus on C++11 with this year bringing more practical, experience-based knowledge on using the new language features. Giving a talk at C++Now is a great way to share with others something cool that you have learned or built. Plus, the registration fee is waived for one speaker of every standard presentation while shorter sessions are prorated. _______________________________________________ Interest mailing list Interest at qt-project.org http://lists.qt-project.org/mailman/listinfo/interest ----------------------------------------- -- Thiago Macieira - thiago.macieira (AT) intel.com Software Architect - Intel Open Source Technology Center -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
