I, too, have a MacBook, but I'm not certain that Qt Creator should try  
to avoid every single already-used-by-default key combination on every  
platform.  For instance, I turned off my Ctrl+# for spaces because I  
wanted to use it for Creator and found myself not using it very much  
for spaces.

Furthermore, you can switch the Fn+F# behavior in System Preferences  
if you like.  (I like.)  Mine does function keys by default, and only  
does the alternate behavior (change volume, etc.) if I press Fn.
