I'd suggest using the "Opened Documents" panel in the left-hand  
sidebar (where usually the project tree is shown, you can also split  
it and show both) instead of tabs, though it could use some polishing.  
Tabs have a lot of disadvantages because they use a horizontally  
layout list.
