[Qt-creator] Font "corruption" in Qt Creator with Qt 4.4.3 / KDE 3.5.9

Hello,

I recently tried out the 64-bit Linux binaries of Qt Creator 0.9.2 and
1.0.0 on Fedora Linux running KDE 3.5.10 plus Qt 4.4.3, all standard
packages. When I start either version of Creator, I almost immediately
get "corrupted" fonts --- a number of glyphs are replaced by squarish
objects --- in applications like Thunderbird 2.0.0.19 (see attached
snapshot) and Konqueror. Curiously, Firefox 3.0.6 is fine.

Switching to another window or virtual desktop and back sometimes
improves the situation, but not completely. In case it helps, I don't
recall any other applications that have caused this problem. In
particular, Qt 3 and Qt 4 applications have co-existed peacefully.
Quitting Creator and restarting the affected applications restores the
fonts. Sometimes, so does quitting Creator and just minimizing and
unminimizing their windows.

I haven't yet installed Qt 4.5, since I'm targeting Qt 4.4.3. Given my
setup, should I bother trying to compile Creator with the full 4.5 SDK?
Is there a compatibility issue? Is there a workaround?

Thank you.

P.S. An earlier version of this message went to Eike Ziller. That was
before I found this mailing list.

Sincerely,
Pat LeSmithe
