The problem is, I might want to click on the file (project view) for 
some other reason than opening it.
For example, to get its location in the file system view.
As you say, one click behaiviur in these situations might be annoying.

On the other hand in the Open Docs view, it's expected that if you click 
there you do want it to get focus.

So in conclusion, better leave the clicks alone.
The visual queues are more than enough.
Anyone with free time?
