[Qt-creator] QtCreator in an Ubuntu VM

Hola mundo,

I'm a new Qt user, quite interested in what the SDK provides as an
alternative to .NET, Mono, and GTK+/GTK#.

In case it might be helpful to other new users, particularly Windows
users, I've posted an entry-level guide to setting up QtCreator in an
Ubuntu virtual machine.

http://pedro-y-pablo.blogspot.com/2009/03/qtcreator-in-ubuntu-vm-under-virtualbox.html

Among the things I've documented are Qt's compiler and library
requirements, which users will need to address in a fresh Ubuntu
installation. Each build error is addressed in turn.

Getting up and running in with QtCreator in Windows XP and Vista
requires no such guide, but where's the cross-platform fun in that?

The only glitch I noticed in the installation itself is that if you
install the QtCreator SDK using sudo, root retains ownership of the Qt
configuration settings in the installing user's home folder. This
prevents saving session settings when closing QtCreator.

All in all, the SDK is a fine piece of work, and the official Qt book
looks made to order for easing the transition to C++ from C#. Thank you
to those who made it possible.
