You're talking about QtCreator plugins, right? The binary versions we 
release are & have been indeed compiled with Visual Studio (2008 32 
bit). That hasn't changed. You should be able to see which plugins 
loaded successfully, and which didn't, under Help->Plugins.

Because MSVC produces better binaries + MinGW can be a beast sometimes.

which case you can also easily compile creator yourself, right?

Run bin\qtcreator.exe ? I'm not sure what your question is. README is 
also a good place to start when looking for requirements etc.
