There might be a way to change the old settings to a format which is then 
succesfully migrated, that depends on how we messed up the migration.
We would need the .user files from before and after to investigate.

We try to always migrate the settings, but that gets less tested then the rest 
of creator and can sometimes loose settings. So I wouldn't expect it, but it 
isn't uncommon that after a release we get bug reports about not correctly 
migrating.
