There is nothing concrete on the agenda, as far as I know. However, 
every plugin has a certain maintenance overhead, and it would be a 
potential waste of developer resources to keep code in the main project 
tree that is literally not used by anyone anymore.
Since we have now found two users, the current plan is to keep it, but 
have it be disabled by default (see 
https://codereview.qt-project.org/44142).
