[Qt-interest] Installation Problems: 4.4.3 on Windows XP (MinGW)

You probably expect it to work like the other image plugins. That is not the 
case here.
All you need to do is include the SVG module in your .pro file and you are 
good to go.
I think it is something like
                                            QT += svg
