[Qt-interest] problem while starting Qt designer

Hi,
  i started Qt designer 4.3 by typing  'designer' in the terminal window....designer opens up but ,in the terminal window,the cursor keeps blinking at the end of designer....and a new [root at localhost:] doesn't come up....see below


root at localhost: designer (Qt designer opens)
(cursor keeps blinking at this position)

Shouldn't a new [root at localhost ]come up once Qt designer opens up...like this

root at localhost: designer
root at localhost:

just begun with Qt so,sorry if it's a trivial question...
