Oh yes, just after my reply (when I actually did a quick Google Research(tm) ;) I noticed that QSateMachine is not yet part of the Qt API.

I am pretty sure you have followed the discussion on http://labs.trolltech.com/blogs/2009/07/23/qstatemachines-a-state-too/ already (I haven't dealt with QStateMachine myself), maybe you'll find pointers there to bring in your API suggestion - or contact Kent (blog author) directly ;)
