It may.  It certainly changed between QT3 and QT4 in regard to this issue.
This problem hit us when we upgraded our applications suite (more that 140
applications) from QT3 to QT4.  It took quite a while to figure out because
some applications worked and others didn't.  On top of that, they all worked
fine of Windows.  The problem only occured on Solaris Sparc.  It was a very
frustrating issue for an upgrade.
