[Qt-interest] Unexpected make install behavior

I built 4.6.0 on OS X 10.6.2 from the commercial source distribution and I specified an absolute path for -prefix. When I ran the "make install" the files were copied to /tmp/qt.dst/my/absolute/path

Is this the expected behavior? If not, could there be a problem because the -prefix path contains a symbolic link?
