I think the _proper_ thing to do would be to post to the MinGW list and
ask those guys why there isn't an official GCC 4.x release for MinGW?
There was an Alpha quality release last May of 2008. There was someone
who worked on it for Google Summer of Code with the hope of having a
GCC 4.x MinGW release in the fall of 2008 but I guess that didn't
happen. Any ways, post to the MinGW list and let us know what type of
response comes back.

PS: I also compile my code against MinGW and VS 2008 on windows so I
too would like to see a newer compiler on MinGW.
