[Qt-interest] How to increase brightness/sharpness

Hi everyone,
   I have downloaded the 'imageviewer' application from the internet.I want to implement basic photo editing features like increase/decrease brightness,sharpness etc on the pic which I open in the image viewer.Please give me some ideas/examples on how to proceed with it.
