[Qt-interest] cant hear QApplication::beep () sound

hi friends,
        i set a timer for one seconds for four labels that change color each
time...
  i also use qApp->beep() but i cant hear any sounds ... i am using Qt open
source Qt 4.4.3 is there any library need to install ...
         please help
