you can try to invoke 
qmake -tp vc
to generate VC project files.

I need to edit the code in Qt. I do not mind using the command line to
build, I just want to be able to open the source files in Visual Studio.
I have tried running "configure -platform win32-msvc2005 -vcproj" but it
keeps telling me that while creating qmake the path to nmake could not
be found. I have added the path to 4.5.2's bin to my PATH variable, but
it seems that that is not enough.

Whrn building QT itself, simply use the command line.. rather then using
vcproj's have qmake build make files and run nmake

Hello All,

 

This may be a very stupid question. I have been working with Qt for
years, but have never had to actually build it. Usually, I use the
binaries that are given when I download the latest release. I now have
to try to build Qt, but I am having trouble trying to figure out how to
create the vcproj files. If anyone could help, or point me to the right
place in the documentation I would greatly appreciate it.
