Depending on the nature of the bug I would use either
a debugger or Purify(or valgrind) to quickly help me
diagnose the problem.

In the end I would never release a program without
regression testing qualified by Purecov/Purify
(now IBM products.)

The Purify/Purecov/Quantify suite is expensive,
but will pay for itself very quickly, especially
if you are a slob, like me.   :-) :-) :-)
