The only way I'd run windows in a virtual machine is if I could completely replace non-virtual windows installation. That means full 100% DirectX9 and OpenGL support which so far all virtual machines are lacking. While VMWare does finally have 3D Acceleration support I tried it with Solidworks and it's not error free yet.
I'm hoping the next version of VMWare will allow me to do this.
