There is no need to reply off-list.
If your app requires Qt4.4, its a requirement. And its actually a requirement
your friend or his package managment have to deal with, not yours as a
programmer.
And if your friend is using ubuntu, he should really just update his/her
system. Because as you can see from
http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=libqtcore&searchon=names _all_
supported ubuntu versions ship at least 4.4.
