My experience shows that it is best if src/ is not removed.  I think I
tried that early on, and found that there were required header files
scattered throughout that folder (src/).  IIRC, there are headers in the
include/ folder that simply reference headers in src/, so you'll
probably want to keep that folder around to be successful.
