I had thought mt.exe would do it, but alas I could not make it.  So I ended 
up opening the .dll into Visual Studio resource editor and deleting the 
manifest from the resources there.  That worked well but it is very manual.

I think it's a bug that the plug-in DLL's are built with manifests.  They 
should not be.
