[Qt-interest] LGPL and static linking

I'll just jump in here...

I'm a student, and I'm building an application as part of a competition 
(Business Professionals of America). I was planning on linking Qt statically, 
and I had kind of assumed that that was allowed by the LGPL. If not, would my 
purpose make it any more legal?
