[Qt-interest] Qt file system feasibility

Hey all,
this will be my first Qt project, coming from a strong .Net background.
i would like to ask how feasible is it to have a real crossplatform
(win/mac/linux) GUI application, given that its main purpose is file
manipulation?. examples would be images processing, diffing between files,
and performing shell (explorer, finder) default operations on files.
in other words am i safe to assume Qt abstracted the filesystem well, and
that i do not need some kind of hard-earned pitfall experience in
cross-platform quirks in this area?

thanks
