Qt 4.6 is scheduled for release in Q4 2009, with interim beta releases planned.

- Create more exciting user experiences with advanced graphics effects, a
new animation framework and support for multi-touch and gesture-based
input methods
- Target new platforms - including Windows 7 and the new port to the Symbian
platform with integration for the S60 framework
- Deliver better performance to their users through a rewritten rendering
algorithm for Qt Graphics View new OpenGL paint engine, a JavaScriptCore
based backend for the QtScript scripting engine and performance
optimizations across the framework.
For more details on new features in Qt 4.6, and to download, visit the preview page at http://qt.nokia.com/developer/qt-4.6-technology-preview.
Upgrade to MinGW 4.4
--------------------
Qt 4.6 will introduce an upgrade to the more modern gcc 4.4 based MinGW compiler, and support for MinGW 3.4 will be dropped from Qt 4.6.0 forwards.
New QtScript Backend: A Note on Licensing
-----------------------------------------
Qt 4.6 introduces a new backend to the Qt Script scripting engine: JavaScriptCore, which is a WebKit component licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License. The existing QtScript implementation will be available upon request for commercial Qt customers who cannot use LGPL code in their application, or who use a compiler that does not support WebKit. Commercial customers can contact their account manager to find out more.
