Did you also install "QuickTime alternative"? Afaik, that would install the required demuxer to access .MOV containers. I did not install or test that.
What does MediaInfo http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/ say about the .mov file when you drop it on it? Maybe your .mov uses some exotic video codec. But that may be found in ffmpeg-tryout http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/
