I for one seem to be missing there a simple button that says "look exactly
like Windows XP", and also for Windows Vista, Mac OS X, S60, GNOME and KDE.
You can do whatever you want in Qt. If you don't think Qt's own widgets are
powerful enough, you can certainly draw your own, in the specific areas where
you think that's needed. But it's extremely difficult to look like the
underlying operating system without help.
In any case, I also have to agree with you that QStyle is very limited. We're
aware of the issue and we're thinking of ways of improving it for the future.
Don't expect anything for Qt 4.7 though -- this will require a lot more
research.
