[Qt-interest] Qt for the iPad?

Agreed. After Jobs weighed in on the iPhone OS4 license changes last week, it seems a moot point. They want 100% dependence on the platform, or alleged "quality" reasons. You might be able to get a statically-compiled app through the app store approval process, but I don't expect Nokia to commit resources to that on that shaky ground. Maybe focus moves to Android now? If I could straddle two platforms (Nokia. Google) it would still be worth it to me. However, QtMobility would need to be outfitted with a lot of Android dongles, and I don't think Mobility is ready for that yet... Also I am not very familiar with the Android development license... Last I heard was Java apps with possibly native libraries. Unless you can make that source-compatible, writing against Qt won't get you anything. Now, maybe the Python/Pyside stuff could be useful...

Re: Focusing on other parts of Qt, what is wrong with QtSQL? I use it extensively.
QtXML needs work if you ask me!

Um, "useless" or not, according to the latest stats, over 800 thousand
people have already bought iPads in only the first week, and are
snapping them up about as fast as Apple can build them. Maybe it's
just a passing fad, but still, that's a lot of potential customers.
Of course, given how Apple's just screwed over Adobe, Nokia would have
to be crazy to spend any development time porting Qt when Apple could
invalidate the whole thing whenever it felt like it (and may arguable
have already done so with the latest license change).
