[Qt-interest] QT compiling Error

Dear all,
I am a little bit confused on "Qt SDK". I have downloaded 
"qt-sdk-linux-x86_64-opensource-2010.04.bin", and installed it by "chmod 
u+x qt-sdk-linux-x86_64-opensource-2010.04.bin" and 
"./qt-sdk-linux-x86_64-opensource-2010.04.bin".

The first question is: Should I also go to the 
"qt-install-directory/qt/" to compile it(./configure|gmake)?

I really did the compilation, but some errors happened. A possible 
reason for the failing seems to be caused by an old version package 
"fontconfig" according to google. The bad thing is I don't have the root 
privilege to install new package on this server. Now I am completely 
stuck. Any hint would be appreciated.
