   Hello Peter.

I'm a hosting provider and an admin in one person and what you said that 
spam grows extremely it's true. But there are some several tricks on MTA 
that solves this problem. One of them is just a greylist. That stops 
tons of it. Second is be the RFC compliant as possible. disable mails if 
the HELO is not FQDN.
Maybe that what Bastian said is most proper step.. Change your provider, 
because the present one is not suitable to your needs.
